On October 18, 2024, Illinois State Trooper, Corey Thompsen, 28, was struck and killed in the line of duty.

Corey had many dreams for his future. In June, he married his best friend and soulmate after five years together. They had purchased his family home and hoped to raise a family there. He had just been accepted into aviation school and planned to further his career as a pilot. All their future plans, projects, and dreams have ended.

Corey began his career with the ISP in 2019. In 2022, He joined the Illinois State Police Motorcycle Enforcement Bureau. In 2023 Corey was assigned to the Central Special Operations Group (SOG) Fatal 4 Team, serving the Illinois State Police in Troop  7.  He was a dedicated member of the motor unit and he felt it was hard to call his job “work” - he truly loved what he did!

Corey lived life to the fullest. Fearless and adventurous, he’s the one who’d go skydiving on a whim, tackle a black diamond his first day on the slopes, or even dive into shark-infested waters without hesitation. What stands out the most, though, is his fierce determination; once he sets his sights on something, there’s no stopping him from achieving it.

Corey’s death has left a gaping hole in the lives of his wife, his parents, his brothers, his grandparents, and all his family and friends. Corey will always be remembered for his love of family and his German Shepherds, his willingness to help others, a warm heart, and his genuine smile.”

Anything that helps Chelsea and the Thompsen family is worth my time and effort. Corey sacrificed his life for others, my donation is such a small token of appreciation!
