On February 24, 2026, we tragically lost Officer Lucas Pierce to a sudden Medical Emergency. He was 44 years old when he passed. Officer Pierce began his career with the Greensboro Police Department in 2009. As a former youth pastor, he had a love for the community that he served, and he used that passion to become a Community Resource Officer. He worked tirelessly to address the community's needs.

His devotion was honored by the Greensboro Police Department, which awarded him a Superior Service Bar and a Certificate of Merit.

Officer Pierce will be remembered as a great friend to many, a loving husband, and a father of 5 wonderful girls. Anything that can be given to help assist his family would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve known the Pierce family my entire life. I remember Lucas running around Eller Memorial as a rambunctious kid full of energy. I was so proud when he joined GPD. We were never super close but there was always a connection. I literally feel like I’ve lost a family member!

You served with courage, discipline, and a commitment to something bigger than yourself. Though your time with us was far too short, the impact you made will never be forgotten. You answered the call to serve, and that speaks volumes about who you were—strong, dedicated, and selfless. You will always be remembered as one of ours. Rest in peace.

I donated because, as the parent of a GPD officer, I know that we should support the GPD family.
