With heavy hearts, we share the devastating news of the passing of Firefighter EMT Andrew Koldeway.

After a brave fight against a sudden and severe illness, Andrew’s watch ended on October 2, 2024. He was just 43 years old. Andrew served as a firefighter for 21 years, dedicating his life to protecting others. He joined Castle Rock Fire & Rescue (CRFD) in February 2023, where he quickly became a valued member of our family, known for his courage, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his community.

Tragically, what began as a seemingly minor medical condition turned into a heartbreaking battle with bacterial meningitis. After a rapid and intense decline in his health, Andrew’s family made the difficult decision to remove him from life support, surrounded by loved ones.

Andrew leaves behind his beloved wife, Angie, and four kids Harper (10), Camdyn (5), Kasen (2), and Madelyn (1), who are now faced with an unimaginable loss. In this time of grief, we are rallying around them to provide the support they need.

Your generous donations will directly help Andrew’s family cover medical bills, funeral expenses, and day-to-day needs as they navigate this painful journey. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference and honor the memory of a hero who dedicated his life to serving others.

We deeply appreciate your support during this difficult time. Funeral arrangements will be announced soon, and CRFD will share additional ways the community can show their love and support for the Koldeway family.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

I attended the service as a FF from a neighboring department. I was deeply moved, the embodiment of the spirit of a true hero. The life he lived and the love he shared sets an example for me not just as a new FF, but as a father as well. I hope to achieve but a portion of what he was and became. May God bless your family in this time and may his spirit of peace be upon you and your beautiful family

Our hearts are heavy in Texas as we learn of the loss of one of our own. As fellow firefighters, we understand the bond we share, not just within our own departments but across all of our communities. We want the family to know that the firefighter brotherhood never forgets—whether near or far, we stand with you in this time of grief. May his legacy live on through his family and those whose lives he touched. Our deepest sympathies and prayers are with you.
