Support Detective Carlos Villarreal – A Hero to Our Community

On February 14, 2024, Detective Carlos Villarreal, a dedicated member of the Leander Police Department, began feeling unwell after his shift, suspecting he might have COVID-19. What followed was a difficult and rapid decline in his health, with Carlos eventually being diagnosed with pneumonia and, soon after, a 16mm brain tumor. The tumor, located near his pituitary gland, was growing quickly and needed to be removed to prevent further complications. He underwent surgery in April 2024, and after a lengthy recovery, he is now back on the road to recovery.

In addition to his battle with the tumor, Carlos has had to deal with long-standing knee issues, which have been a challenge after over 28 years of police service. In 2024, Carlos underwent two knee surgeries to help him regain mobility and continue his work as a police officer. He is still recovering and undergoing physical therapy, hoping to return to duty soon.

Carlos has served the Leander Police Department and the Leander community for over 28 years. He started as a patrol officer and went on to hold numerous important roles, including patrol sergeant, field training officer, firearms instructor, bike officer, hostage negotiator, and, most recently, a detective. Through it all, Carlos has always gone above and beyond, not only as an officer but as a community servant. He has been an active participant in local events such as Blue Santa, National Night Out, and the Citizens Police Academy, touching countless lives along the way. His commitment to the safety and well-being of Leander’s residents is unparalleled, and he has made a lasting impact on our community.

Now, as he faces these health challenges, Carlos needs our support. The Leander Law Enforcement Association has set up a fundraiser to help with his medical expenses, and we ask you to donate if you are able. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference and help show Carlos how much we appreciate his years of service to our community.

Please consider donating and sharing this post to help spread the word. Let’s come together to support Carlos during this difficult time, as he has done so much for us over the years.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Let’s show Carlos the strength of our community! 💙
