Brothers & Sisters,
Please consider helping Shawn & Stephanie Rudy. Here is their story.
Shawn and Stephanie have been married for 19 years and say, “They are each other’s, everything”. They do everything together, including fighting cancer. Both Shawn and Stephanie are fighting a second battle with cancer. Shawn’s is pancreatic cancer and Stephanie’s is ovarian cancer. To put it bluntly, they are both literally in the battle of their lives.
Stephanie is no longer responding to the cancer treatments she has been undergoing. Without any more conventional treatment options available, she will start clinical trials in Seattle in mid-October. Shawn recently had surgery to remove his cancer, however, he is currently battling a severe infection and internal bleeding.
Stephanie is a 20yr member of the Lewiston FD. In 2019 she was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. Her last round of chemo stopped working, but she has been approved for a new trial. Unfortunately, the new trial is every three weeks and is in Seattle.
Shawn is a 15yr member of the Asotin County Sheriff's Office and a member of Washington State FOP Lodge 41.
UPDATE 11/15/24
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of a dedicated public servant, valued colleague, and dear friend of the Lewiston Fire Department. Stephanie Rudy, who served as the Fire Department’s Administrative Assistant and dedicated 24 years to the City of Lewiston, Idaho, passed away on Saturday, November 9th. Her unwavering commitment and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to work alongside her. Colleagues remember Stephanie as a source of support, positivity, and true friendship. “We will miss her more than words can express,” said Fire Chief Greg Rightmier. “Stephanie was more than a coworker—she was a confidant, a friend, and a steadfast supporter who helped our department strive to be the best emergency responders we could be. Our thoughts are with her family as they navigate this profound loss.” A celebration of Stephanie’s life will be held on Saturday, November 30th, at River City Church in Lewiston, with the time to be announced at a later date. Her family warmly invites all who knew and loved her to join in honoring the beautiful life she led.
