This plea for financial support is for retired Ventura County Fire Captain Richard Bollinger and his family. Rich was hired on February 2, 1981, and retired on March 5, 2007. He was last stationed at VCFD Fire Station #44.

On March 4th 2026, Rich Bollinger suffered a stroke while at home with his wife, Judy. He was transported to Los Robles Hospital, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit to stabilize his condition and prepare him for surgical intervention. Unfortunately, five days later, Rich's condition worsened, and he had to be rushed into surgery. After over 17 hours of surgery, his neurosurgeon was able to stabilize the source of the problem. Rich then spent the next two months at Los Robles Hospital, primarily in the ICU. He was recently transferred to a long-term skilled nursing facility to continue on his long journey to recovery.

The family commitment that is required to support a loved one through a journey of this nature is immense and overwhelming. Rich is very fortunate that he has a committed family that is led by his loving wife Judy and their daughter Andrea. The family support for Rich results in them having to spend many hours away from home. Lodging, food, and other travel expenses, combined with healthcare costs not covered by insurance, can mount quickly. Helping to provide some financial support is one way to help the Bollinger family navigate this challenging situation. If you're able to donate, please do. Any donation is greatly appreciated.
