The Lewisville Fire Fighter Foundation joins our brothers and sisters in blue in mourning the loss of Assistant Chief Jay Powell of the Lewisville Police Department.

Jay was an exemplary leader who served the Lewisville community for nearly three decades with dedication, integrity, and a heart of service. He showed us all what it means to be a public servant, and his passing deeply saddens us.

Our community has suffered the loss of a beloved father, husband, and friend. We want to honor his memory and support his family during this difficult time.

We are launching a crowdfunding campaign, and all proceeds will be used to support the Powell family or a cause of their choice.

We ask that you consider donating to this campaign to honor Assistant Chief Powell's memory. Every donation, no matter the size, can make a difference for his family during this difficult time.

Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help in honoring the life of Assistant Chief Jay Powell.

Chief Powell, 52, joined the Lewisville Police Department in 1994. During his 29-year career in Lewisville, Chief Powell received numerous honors and earned multiple service awards. He was promoted to Assistant Police Chief in 2014. In that role, Chief Powell oversaw the operations side of the police department, supervising officers in Training, Traffic, CID, and Special Operations.

Funeral arrangements are pending. More information will be posted on the City of Lewisville website.
