It’s with profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Division Chief, John "John-Boy" Ashman. He passed away peacefully this morning, surrounded by friends and family who loved him dearly.

Chief Ashman was a 40-year veteran of the Lewisville Fire Department and a Charter Member of the Lewisville Fire Fighters Association. His contributions to our department were beyond measure. Notably, he was one of the first paramedics in the Lewisville Fire Department, marking a significant milestone in our history.

To all who had the privilege of knowing him, Chief Ashman was a mentor, a friend, and a guiding force. He imparted his wisdom and experience not only to the members of Lewisville Fire Fighters but to everyone he encountered within the firefighting community.

His passion for being a fire fighter was infectious. His extensive knowledge of the fire service was beyond any book you could read or training you could attend. It was a treasure trove of information born out of dedication and hands-on experience.

In addition to his remarkable professional wisdom, Chief Ashman was renowned for his sharp humor and his unyielding, spirited personality. He was always up for a good time and had an uncanny ability to lighten the mood, even in the direst of situations.

Throughout his illustrious career, Chief Ashman's reach extended far beyond our department. He readily shared his wisdom and experience with other departments through training and assisting in apparatus design. His phone line was always open for anyone needing advice or just a friendly conversation.

In honor of Division Chief John "John-Boy" Ashman, a respected leader and mentor within our community, the family requests that instead of sending flowers, contributions be made to the Lewisville Fire Fighters Scholarship Fund. Chief Ashman devoted his life not only to safeguarding our community but also to the education and mentorship of countless fire fighters. His passion for teaching was as vibrant as his passion for firefighting, serving as a testament to his belief in the power of knowledge sharing.

By donating to this scholarship fund, you're not merely giving a one-time gift, but you're investing in the future of our fire service. You're honoring Chief Ashman's commitment to education, mentorship, and his vision of a highly skilled firefighting force ready to tackle any challenges.

In the spirit of Chief Ashman's lifetime of service, let's light the path for those who follow in his footsteps. Let's continue the work he began, empowering the fire fighters of tomorrow with the knowledge, skills, and wisdom they need. Please consider making a donation to the Lewisville Fire Fighters Scholarship Fund, and together, let's keep Chief Ashman's torch shining brightly.

Rest easy, Chief. We will continue to carry the torch that you lit so brightly, and your legacy will live on in the work that we do every day.

John was a friend to me and my family. I donated because John was very important to my son's Preston and Michael. John was there answering questions for Michael when he was entering the fire academy. John will always have a special place in our hearts along with his family.

The Ashman family was our neighbor, and they all were the best neighbors ever. We knew John would grow up to be a fine man. He did, and his legacy lives on with all of the people he touched in the Fire Service and personally as well.

RIP Chief. You touched many lives inside and outside the fire service. Hopefully, someone will pick up the mantle and carry on. I'll raise another bottle of Raspberry Propel to you. That was his favorite refresher when he came to the Rehab area on the fire ground. Prayers for the Ashman family. May you find peace and understanding in the coming days.
