Our brother Jeff is reaching out for assistance. He has been out of work for 3 years and needs any financial help you can lend.
in 2016 Jeff underwent a double fusion surgery to place titanium plates in his neck. During that procedure he contracted a MRSA infection over his entire body causing septic shock and he escaped death twice. His long recovery included the need to restore the most basic functions to include learning to walk again. Doctors told him he should expect to have continued spinal deterioration as well as declining lung and eye functions as his immune system was severely compromised.
Jeff overcame this horrific experience eventually fighting his way back to duty as a corrections officer and ultimately becoming a patrol deputy. His law enforcement career ended when he was involved in a vehicle collision in 2020. His injuries left him unable to meet the rigorous physical requirements and he was forced to medically retire. Not only did the injuries from the crash exacerbate his prior injury, his immune conditions have also worsened over time.
As a result of these life altering events Jeff has been battling multiple mental health conditions in addition to physical ailments. These include diagnosis for PTSD, Anxiety, Major Depression, and Insomnia. He also experiences the effects of Tardive Dyskinesia which causes numbness in his legs and arms leaving him unable to hold items for any period of time.
Jeff is thankful for the ongoing support he’s being given by his doctors but currently he has no income, is receiving no financial support, and his medical and psychological expenses are growing insurmountably each day. He has gone from having no debt and having a great credit score to incurring a tremendous amount of debt and filing for bankruptcy because he has being paying for his medical and psychological care and medications out of pocket while trying to maintain a household to provide for himself and his emotional support pup, Remi. She has had also had her own medical needs over the past few years which have required expensive surgical interventions.
Jeff is currently not able to work. He has been turned down for housing assistance and food stamps. His application for SSI benefits has been denied and he is praying for relief at his appeal hearing quickly approaching on April 14th. He is at a point where he has no alternative other than to ask for help from his friends and family and he sincerely appreciates you have read this far. Jeff wants you to know any contribution would be a godsend to help him through these trying times and he knows he will never be able to adequately thank or repay everyone who has and will support him throught his continued recovery.”
