Just one day after celebrating her 21st birthday, Hallie Young’s world changed forever. What began as what seemed like a simple case of flu-like symptoms quickly took a serious turn. A visit to the emergency room led to the unthinkable — a diagnosis of B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL). Three days later, Hallie began her first round of chemotherapy, stepping into a fight for her life with the same courage and determination that have always defined her.

Before leukemia entered her life, Hallie was known for her fierce determination on the softball field. Raised in the fastpitch softball community, she played with passion, grit, and a love for the game that shaped who she is. Hallie went on to play college softball for Snow College, balancing school, and being an athlete with a lot of demands. She then took those skills into life becoming a self sufficient hard worker. She had full-time work, and independence — all with her trademark humor, responsibility, and stubborn drive to succeed. Her hobby had shifted from fastpitch to slowpitch where she found much enjoyment staying close to her passion, softball. She’s known by everyone who loves her as funny, sarcastic, loyal, and the first to offer help to anyone who needs it.

Now, Hallie faces a different kind of challenge — one that will last two to three years as she undergoes intensive chemotherapy, maintenance treatments, and countless hospital stays. This journey will be long and difficult, filled with both physical and emotional hurdles for Hallie and her family. Through it all, she continues to show the same courage and grit that made her a standout athlete and teammate.

Her father, a Deputy with Summit County, and her family are doing everything they can to stay strong beside her. But the road ahead brings tremendous challenges — time away from work, medical expenses, travel, and the uncertain path back to normal life once treatment is over.

Funds raised through this campaign will not only going towards supporting her through this, but will mainly go directly into a money market account to help Hallie rebuild her life once she beats this disease — to get back on her feet, back to her independence, and hopefully, back to the softball field she loves so much.

Hallie has always been the one to lift others up. Now, it’s our turn to lift her.
