Vernal City Police Corporal Troy Davis died unexpectedly after suffering a medical event while mountain biking with his family, friends, and members of the Uintah High School mountain biking team on Monday, July 12, 2021 near Red Fleet Reservoir.
Family and friends performed life saving measures for several minutes on scene until emergency personnel arrived. Troy was then taken to Ashley Regional Medical Center where he passed away due to a heart condition. Troy was surrounded by his family at the time of his death.
Troy has been with the Vernal City Police Department for over two decades and has served as a school resource officer for many years. Troy’s wife, Mariel, has been with the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office for over six years and has been in public safety for over 20 years.
His death is a devastating loss to his family, the entire law enforcement family in the basin, and to our community. Every capacity he ever served in, both personally and professionally, he did it well. Thank you Troy for your example and professionalism. You will be missed.
