Chief Joe Pemberton was a respected member of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department for 27 years and served his country in the United States Air Force for 14 years. He has been with his wife, Cassie, for 19 years and they have 12 year old twins Jacob and Jordan. During Joe’s career he promoted through the ranks and retired as Chief of Special Operations. He spent time in his career working on the Moreno Valley SET team, Homicide and a decade in narcotics at the West County Narcotic Task Force and the Special Investigations Bureau. Joe and Cassie had their twins in 2014. Joe was a runner, heavy weight lifter and his hobbies were hunting, fishing and spending as much time as possible with his children. He also had a Master’s degree in Public Administration. In 2020, Cassie separated from the department to stay home with them.

In 2022, Joe was 53 years old when he was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease. The cause is still unknown. Due to his young age Joe does not qualify for financial assistance from any systems in place. Cassie has been Joe’s full time caregiver for the last two years as his symptoms progressed so quickly and is now in the advanced stages of the disease.

On October 9th, Joe suddenly entered a state of delirium and Cassie was forced to call 911 due to his sudden aggressive behavior. Joe has since been hospitalized and now required to move into a memory care facility because it is not safe for him to return home. Unfortunately these facilities are completely out of pocket and the out of pocket costs are incredibly expensive.

Funds raised will help provide Joe with the specialized memory care and housing he now requires, while also supporting Cassie as she continues to care for their two young children at home. Your generosity will help ease the financial burden on the Pemberton family, allowing them to focus on what matters most: Joe’s care and the well-being of their children during an incredibly difficult time.
