With heavy hearts we must inform you that our beloved fire captain, Bruce Wells, has passed away from the effects of his battle with the scourge known as Cancer.

He did so peacefully, with his wife Lisa and his 3 boys by his side. Our firefighter family has lost a husband, a father, a family member and a friend.

Captain Wells honorably served our community and fire department for three decades. He was a great firefighter, one who was truly dedicated to the fire service. However, Bruce was an even greater family man through and through. He pursued the love of his life, Lisa, and married her in 2002. Together they started a family… and that family was his passion.

The Wells family is, and will always be, part of our Kern County Fire family. Even now, our firefighters are assisting with meals, home upkeep, and doing everything we can to provide support.

The outpouring of kindness from our community has been overwhelming. The Wells family expresses their gratitude for all of the prayers and support they have received.

If you feel moved by Bruce’s story and wish to support his family, please consider making a donation through this link. Every dollar will bring immense relief to the Wells family. Beyond our financial support, we ask for your continued prayers for all involved in this challenging time.

Thank you for your continued support for the Wells family and Kern County’s firefighters. We appreciate your support during this time.

Bruce will forever leave a lasting impression on all of our lives. A quiet but powerful man, he was the symbol of strength and honor. Both gentle and calculated, his presence was larger than life. Humble and honest.... Thank you Bruce for the time you gave to all of us, Rest easy now my friend, your memory lives on in all of us.

Bruce was a great man who loved his family. He was extremely proud of his boys and always shared stories to me about their school and sports. I’m very lucky to have known and worked with Bruce. He was a great mentor and friend. Bruce had a profound impact on me and many others. He will be missed by so many. Love you buddy.
