On June 11th, eleven-year-old Brigg and his eight-year-old little brother were enjoying another summer day on their grandparent's rural ranch property in Milam County. Brigg was driving a Polaris Ranger when it rolled over. Brigg’s little brother was ejected from the vehicle but escaped any major injuries. Brigg’s lower left leg was crushed as the ATV rolled over it. As his little brother ran the quarter mile to get his grandmother, Brigg crawled to the ATV and somehow pulled himself into the driver's seat despite his devastating leg injury. Brigg drove almost back to the house when his grandmother arrived.
Initial diagnosis did not look promising for Brigg’s left foot, but doctors made a heroic effort in 16 hours of surgery the first night in the hospital. Brigg has been in ICU for weeks with multiple trips to the operating room and several more procedures already scheduled for the future.
Brigg is a leader on his championship soccer team and is looking forward to returning to his athletic ways. There is no denying his toughness, but Brigg has a long road to recovery.
The DPS Troopers Foundation is raising money to assist the Delukie family with their expenses. Brigg's father Lt. Donald Delukie with DPS Training Division and Mother Aleigha have spent countless hours at Briggs' side at the hospital while he recovers. If you can, please donate. Help a hero charges a fee up front, so 100% of the money donated goes to the campaign. Thank you for your support.
