Our Brother and Sister in enforcement, Bill and Vickie Bagshaw lost their dear sweet daughter Sarah Peterson, to an unexpected medical event on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at the age of 36, in Bear Lake, Idaho.

Sarah was a loving daughter and sister, and most of all a wonderful wife to her husband and love of life, Kyle, and incredible mother to her two children Brody and Mason.  Sarah was raised in Butte, Montana, and moved to Utah at the age of 10.  She was an outgoing kid who loved anything athletic and outdoors.  She was on the Alta High School Junior Varsity basketball team.  She loved riding dirt bikes and snow mobiles, camping, and boating, playing softball and basketball, and Sarah loved Nerf gun wars with her husband and sons.  Sarah loved the outdoors and especially loved their time together at Bear Lake.

Sarah graduated high school in 2006 and went on to become a nail technician and later a chiropractor’s assistant.  She then met the love of her life, Kyle, in 2013.  She knew immediately she was “her person”.  They married soon after, knowing they were meant to be together and didn’t want to wait to start their life together.  She often said, “Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love comes along and brings you a fairy tale.”  Sarah and Kyle had an amazing life together.

Sarah always wanted to be a mother and she was amazing at it.  She and Kyle brought two incredible boys into this world, Brody and Mason, and they would always say to each other, “I love you to the moon and back, infinity, and beyond.”  Sarah was a teacher momma, exposing the boys to new things and teaching them all they needed to know in this life. She always took care of the creatures Brody would bring home and would put on plays and create inventions with Mason.  She volunteered at their school classrooms and oversaw their class parties.  There was nothing that Sarah and her family would not do for each other.  Sarah was the most amazing, beautiful wife, momma, daughter, and person, so kind and considerate.  For those that knew her knew this to be true.

Sarah was born when Vickie was 16, and they grew up together and that bond was eternal, and they became the best of friends.  Sarah meant everything to her momma and was her rock.  Fortunately, they were able to spend a lot of time together, and that time will always be remembered and missed.  The family adventures were amazing and created so many memories that will be cherished forever.

As the State FOP, we ask that we as fellow brothers and sisters in law enforcement, we look inward and try to support, a little, the Peterson family, and Bill and Vickie Bagshaw with a donation to help with funeral expenses.  Thank you for supporting these wonderful people in their time of need.
