As provided by Vincent's Uncle:
Vincent was 19 years old before his lord and savior called him home this morning, after an unfortunate car accident on the Southside of San Antonio, not far from where his loving dad, my brother; Salvador and I grew up.
Vincent was an amazing young man. He was a 2023 graduate from Johnson High School and was working at a local restaurant while seeking to serve his country, like his dad had, by pursuing an enlistment in the United States Navy. He worked out and began the process of preparing his body physically for the rigors of what bootcamp held in store. He fell in love with the gym and was so proud of inching closer to accomplishing his goal. Vincent had a love and zest for life. He loved everything music, from playing his guitar to singing, as he had in high school choir. When my nephew sang, his voice; a deep, confident tone would give way to this peaceful, tranquil sound that you wouldn’t think could ever come from his massive 6’4” frame. We will miss him, his laughs, his jokes, his presence but most of all, his hugs. A “gentle giant,” he loved deeply and was deeply loved by all who were fortunate enough to be a part of his life. He will be deeply missed and will never be forgotten.
His untimely passing has left a huge hole in our family, and we are left selfishly trying to find the answers as to why his presence was needed so much more in heaven than here with us. Our family is praying that we can honor and celebrate Vincent’s 19 years of life in a way that is befitting of the great, young man this world has now lost. Unfortunately, his passing was not something our family was expecting and as such, the financial responsibility of providing that celebration is proving difficult. My brothers and sisters in blue, we humbly come to you and ask for help. You know as we know that it is us, our police family, that stands united in difficult and challenging times and with your help, we can ensure that my brother, his wife, Erin; my nieces, Adriana and Celsey; my nephew, Salvador Jr and our entire family, can say goodbye for now, the way Vincent deserves. All donations will be used to pay for funeral expenses to honor heaven’s newest guardian, Vincent Arturo James Onofre.
