Special Agent Leopoldo “Leo” Sanchez, a proud graduate of B-98 recruit school, currently serves with the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and is stationed in Weslaco.
On April 29, 2025, SA Sanchez began experiencing severe respiratory distress and was admitted to a hospital in Weslaco, where doctors discovered a collapsed lung. As his condition worsened, he was transferred to a McAllen hospital, and due to further complications, he was flown by Air Med to Methodist Hospital in San Antonio for a higher level of care.
SA Sanchez remains in critical condition. He is battling a collapsed lung and viral pneumonia. His recovery will require prolonged hospitalization and intensive, long-term medical treatment.
The DPS Troopers Foundation is raising money to assist the Sanchez family with expenses. We are asking for your support during this incredibly difficult time. Help A Hero charges a fee up front. 100% of donations will go to the Sanchez family. If you are able, please donate. Continued prayers for a full recovery.
