DPS Special Agent Derrick Hinojosa underwent a craniotomy procedure at Houston Methodist to remove a malignant tumor and is in need of ongoing physical therapy and treatment on his long road to recovery. Derrick is improving everyday but due to the location of the tumor he is in need of long-term therapy and will need to undergo chemotherapy as part of the recovery.
The DPS Troopers Foundation is raising money through Help-a-Hero to assist the Hinojosa family while they are undergoing these treatments. A fee is charged up front, so 100% of the donation will go to the family.
