I am a retired Police Officer from La Mesa PD. I recently had a catastrophic complication from a medication I was taking and lost eyesight in my left dominant eye. The condition is called NAAION. Upon admission to the hospital my blood pressure was 53/24 and my kidneys were failing. It took a whole month to figure out that I had a stroke in my eye. The second concern is that there is a 44% chance that this could progress to my good eye leaving me completely blind. It’s a very sad situation as there is no treatment currently and nothing to stop the progression. I am reaching out for help as I am on disability right now, and it’s not covering therapy and medical care even with insurance so we are falling behind Quickly.
